Charities

The San Jacinto Corvette Club has a long history of giving back to our community by supporting various charitable organizations.  We collect toiletry items, pop tabs, wine corks, Lay's brand chip bags, Mar's brand candy wrappers and newspapers at our monthly meetings.  These items are used to support various charities.  Our big fund raiser over the last several years is that we host the Kemah Car Show which benefits Kidz Harbor.   Our car show averages about $8,500.00 in cash each year for our featured charity. We currently have active fund raising campaigns for Kidz Harbor and the National Corvette Museum.

Kidz Harbor

Kidz Harbor was founded in March, 2003 by the late Rev. Jim H. Green. His mission was to help the abused and abandoned children of Texas. To achieve this goal, Rev. Green acquired a facility on 6 acres of beautiful property nestled on Chocolate Bayou.

The facility contained a full court gymnasium, in ground swimming pool, and commercial kitchen.  The facility became licensed and regulated by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.  It has 24 hour awake staff, licensed counselor, and volunteer tutors.  Kidz Harbor offers medical, physical, educational, and psychological assistance to every child who enters its doors.  It provides recreational activities such as skating, bowling, swimming, basketball and fishing for its children.

Since its opening, Kidz Harbor has achieved its original foundation goal by successfully servicing hundreds of children.  Kidz Harbor continues to be a lighthouse for children and a memorial to the vision of the late Rev. Jim H. Green.

In December the club raises money to buy toys for the children at Kidz Harbor. We caravan down to Liverpool, Texas and deliver the toys and give the kids rides in the Corvettes.
